Camp Tanase is an overnight sleep-away camp for boys and girls ages 10-14 held at Montgomery Bell State Park, developed and led by Tennessee State Park Rangers. Campers participate in Ranger-led activities including water activities (paddling, swimming, fishing, creek critters), survival skills (wilderness survival, knot tying, camping skills, cooking skills, native American weapons), wilderness exploration (hiking, astronomy, wildlife observation, birds of prey), the Ranger experience (first-aid, horse mounted patrol, archery), arts and crafts (homestead crafts, tie-dye, nature impressions, DIY honey bee products), field day games, rec games, and structured free time. The camp upholds the values of outdoor culture, history, and nature, promoting good stewardship of Tennessee State Parks.
