Explore the colorful, hands-on world of fiber art in this weeklong felting camp designed for rising 4th–7th grade students. Felting is the process of tangling wool or other animal fibers together to create a dense, non-woven fabric. Campers will learn two major techniques: wet felting, which uses warm water, soap, and gentle agitation to bond fibers such as alpaca or merino wool; and needle felting, which uses special barbed needles to interlock wool by repeatedly poking and shaping it. Throughout the week, girls will create a series of beautiful, beginner-friendly projects from felted animals and miniature sculptures to decorative ornaments, textured wall hangings, and custom felted accessories. Using starter kits, foam blocks, colorful wool, and a variety of tools, campers will gain the skills to design, shape, and finish their own unique pieces. By the end of camp, each artist will take home a collection of handcrafted felt creations and a new appreciation for this timeless, tactile art form. Perfect for creative minds who love color, texture, and making something truly one-of-a-kind!
