The Environmental Education Center's Summer Science Enrichment Program is an outdoor experience for Dallas ISD students who have finished the fourth or fifth grade and will enter the fifth or sixth grade in the fall of 2026. The program primarily focuses on the life sciences, ecology, and environmental concepts. Students engage in a variety of outdoor, hands-on, field investigations and explorations in different areas of science using the forest, ponds, and grassland areas of the 500-acre center. Topics covered include entomology, aquatic ecosystems, botany, and geology. Students will have an opportunity to interact with a variety of live animals, museum exhibits, and livestock during the course of the program. All programs are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Science and support student mastery of multiple science concepts. Programs are delivered by experienced, certified, district science teachers. Transportation, breakfast, and lunch are provided. Students are nominated for the program by their schools.
