Nature Summer Camps in Bellingham Metro Area

Camp Keystone is a balance of discovery, science, and silliness! Campers will uncover the wonders of nature through the lens of a salmon. Activities include nature games, magical stories, open-ended arts, crafts, and lots of unstructured nature play to encourage children's natural curiosity about the outdoors. Each week features a youth-driven emergent curriculum with exciting field trips to locations like Birch Bay State Park, Larrabee State Park, and more.

Looking for an adventurous and educational activity for your child this summer? At Happy Orcas Adventure Camp, kids will be able to explore the beauty of the Salish Sea from Larrabee State Park. Activities include snorkeling, tide pooling, hiking, jewelry making, art projects using found objects on the shore, beach cleanup, good stewardship of the land and sea and of course, kayaking! Each day at camp is different — weather and camper energy guide the schedule. Each week includes 1 long hike day to Fragrance Lake and typically 3 kayaking days. Staff are CPR/First Aid Certified (many also WFA/WFR certified). Ratios are 7.5:1.

A special week of day camp for LGBTQ+ youth! This inclusive, affirming camp features horsemanship activities like grooming, leading, and riding, creative arts & crafts, small animal time, collaborative discussions with queer leaders, and more! LGBTQ+ staff and volunteers create a fun and empowering space for teens to make new friends, develop farm skills, and increase self-confidence. Open to ages 13-18 who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. 10am-3pm daily.

Full Day Camp runs from 10 AM-3 PM daily at the ANT farm in Bellingham, WA. Sample schedule: 10-11am Welcome Circle/Group Game, 11am-12:30pm Horsemanship/Crafts/Small Animals, 12:30-1:15pm Lunch, 1:15-2:45pm Horsemanship/Crafts/Small Animals, 2:45-3pm Group Debrief & Goodbye. Note: this is not a horseback riding camp — riding is one part of a broader farm experience.

This play-based summer program is all about making friends and enjoying nature! We'll learn about respecting our friends and our environment while exploring acres of nature trails, playing games in the woods, exploring the river banks, crafting with nature, and splashing in the creek!

It doesn't get much better than camp in the forest! In this exciting summer program, students will make new friends, play by the river, and grow confidence in the outdoors. Instructors will lead the group in learning Pacific Northwest plants, creating works of art in nature, and even basic survival skills!

Day camps at Camp Kirby for campers entering Kindergarten through 6th grade, run Monday–Friday from 9 AM–4 PM. Camper groups are determined by registration numbers, camper grade/age, and buddy requests. Each week has a different theme with activities including archery, waterfront activities, arts & crafts, a 40-foot climbing tower, and hiking trails.

Overnight residential camp at Camp Kirby for campers entering 4th or 5th grade. Adventurers are housed together in a unit. Camp offers archery, waterfront activities, arts & crafts, a 40-foot climbing tower, hiking trails, and more on 47 acres of forest, grasslands, and over a mile of beach along Padilla Bay.

Overnight residential camp at Camp Kirby for campers entering 2nd or 3rd grade. Beachcombers are housed together in a unit. Camp offers archery, waterfront activities, arts & crafts, a 40-foot climbing tower, hiking trails, and more on 47 acres of forest, grasslands, and over a mile of beach along Padilla Bay.

Overnight residential camp at Camp Kirby for campers entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. Voyagers are housed together in a unit. Camp offers archery, waterfront activities, arts & crafts, a 40-foot climbing tower, hiking trails, and more on 47 acres of forest, grasslands, and over a mile of beach along Padilla Bay.

A weekend stay option at Camp Kirby between full overnight sessions, available for campers in grades 2-12. Campers who wish to stay the weekend between two consecutive overnight sessions can register for this add-on.

In partnership with Fircreek Daycamp, Firs & Fiddleheads offers a 5-day, full-day summer PreKamp designed for children ages 3–6. This immersive program blends outdoor exploration, creative play, and hands-on learning, giving young children a fun and engaging introduction to the rhythms of daycamp while fostering curiosity, social skills, and a love for nature and God. Forest PreKamp is a fully outdoor program built on the same principles that guide our school-year programs.
