Harbor Island Yacht Club started offering Sail Camp in 1978 and proudly has hosted our Summer Youth Sailing Program consecutively since 1988! Our Youth Sailing program is intended for children and teens ages seven through 17. It is structured to build sailing skills from beginners through advanced sailors. Our goal is to create a space where children and teens are introduced to sailing skills that they can carry with them throughout life and also introduce youth to the joy of racing! We accoplish this through building on new and advanced knowledge of small boat handling in a safe, fun, skilled environment. The program is taught by knowledgeable, trained young adults, and caring counselors that are welcomed to our staff training in addition to our Lead Instructors, who are U.S. Sailing Instructor certified. HIYC Sail Camp is managed by the non-profit Nashville Sailing Foundation.
